Head of Growth Marketing

Head of Growth Marketing | AI Infrastructure | San Francisco (Onsite)
About the company: The product is open source and has become one of the fastest-growing developer tools in the AI space, with a large and genuinely passionate GitHub community and adoption driven almost entirely by word of mouth. The company hit 8-figure ARR in its first year and has continued to grow rapidly since. The team is small (under 40 people), moves fast, and this hire will effectively own growth as a function — this is a step-up opportunity for someone ready to run the whole thing, not a lateral move for a seasoned VP.
What you'll do:
- Own signup growth across acquisition channels — SEO/GEO, content, partnerships, brand, and emerging AI-native discovery channels — and be accountable to the number, not just the strategy behind it
- Build a durable, compounding channel mix rather than relying on one-off campaigns
- Run weekly performance reviews, diagnose what's working and what isn't, and ship corrective plans fast
- Manage and hire into a small existing team of channel owners (content, product marketing, partnerships)
- Audit any paid or agency spend and make the call on what's worth keeping
- Partner closely with product and engineering on activation and onboarding
What they're looking for:
- Required: you've personally run growth or marketing at a company whose product itself was open source (not just developer-facing or API-first) — this is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have
- You've owned a growth or activation number yourself, with real before/after metrics, not just advised on one
- Deep operational experience with SEO/GEO and organic, developer-audience growth
- Comfortable with ambiguity and moving without waiting for permission — this is a small, senior team with no layers
- Roughly 2–5 years of relevant experience, ready to step up into a head-of-function role
Logistics:
- Location: San Francisco, CA — onsite; must live in or be willing to relocate to the Bay Area
- Process moves fast (roughly two weeks from interview to offer) and includes a paid work trial
- Open to visa transfers (e.g., OPT/H-1B) on a case-by-case basis; not standard new sponsorship
