Event Manager

The Event Manager provides professional customer services in the Event & Convention Services Department of the Convention Management Division.The EventManager manages the success ofmeetings,galas,workshops,medium-to-small conference and conventions, symposia and special event production and eventsfor50to7,000guests.TheEventManageralsocoordinateslargerevents under the direction and support of a Senior Event Manager/partnership. This work is performed under the general direction of the Director for Convention Management. Responsibilities Reviews lessee’s license agreement to ensure dates, times, leased space andequipmentprovidedareaccurateandcontractualprovisionsarefulfilled. Directsshowservicesstaffandcontractorsindeliveringservicesformeetings and events and resolving event-related problems. Coordinateseffortsof caterers,decorators,audio-visual,MeetingServices staff, etc., when organizing set-up requirements and client specifications. Acts as primary Events DC point-of-contact for show managers and implementstheirspecificationsandrequirementsforEventsDCprovided services. InconjunctionwithEventsDCandDestinationDCSalesTeams,conducts tours of the facilities for potential customers, provides expertise and consultationregarding facilitycapabilitiesanddeterminestheneedsofthe potential event. Assistsinthecompilationandreviewofeventandcontractorchargeswith appropriate Events DC staff and show management, and reviews documentation for invoice preparation. Preparesschedulesandmeetingroomspecificationsillustrating requirements. Reviews/Approvesandcreateeventfloorplans/diagrams. Ensurestheavailabilityofallequipmentcontractedforcustomer’suse. Ensures compliance with all facility and appropriate governmental rules and regulationsbytheshowmanagementandallserviceprovidersworkingonthe event. Conductspost-eventcritiqueswithshowmanagement. Assistthedepartmenttoimplementandmonitoroperationalpoliciesand procedures are being adhered. Performsavarietyofrelatedtasksanddutiesasassigned. Qualifications Bachelor’sdegreefromanaccreditedcollegeoruniversitywithmajor coursework in Business Administration,PublicRelations,Hospitality, Communications, Hotel Management, or a related field; AND Two to Three (2-3) years of significant customer-oriented hospitality industry experiencepreferablyinaconventionhotel,conferenceorconventioncenter, or significant operating experience with multi-management of meetings and special events. ProficientinMicrosoftOfficeSuite. Anyequivalentcombinationofrelatedexperience,training,and/oreducation.
