Precision Tooling Machinist

Picture your morning at Alloy Precision Technologies (APT): you walk the shop floor, review a request from Production for a new fixture, and head straight to the tool room to turn a rough sketch into a precise, production-ready component. Before lunch, you’re dialing in speeds and feeds on an engine lathe; by afternoon, you’re at the mill and grinder, checking tolerances with gauges and a comparator, then jumping over to assist a CNC run that needs your hands-on experience—all while upholding AS9100/ISO9001 expectations.

• Set up and operate a variety of machines—engine lathes, mills, grinders, and other fabrication equipment—to build and repair tooling, fixtures, and die-related components supporting APT production.
• Respond to tooling and fixture requests from Production, Engineering, Sales, Maintenance, and Machining; translate verbal ideas and hand sketches into finished parts.
• Apply practical machining fundamentals: selecting materials, choosing proper speeds/feeds, and using shop practices to achieve reliable results.
• Interpret and create blueprints; produce parts with or without drawings as needed.
• Use gauges and a comparator to verify dimensions and finish; maintain quality aligned with Customer requirements and AS9100/ISO9001 standards.
• Support CNC production machining on an as‑needed basis to keep throughput on track.
• Recommend improvements to tooling, fixtures, and applications; be a resource to teammates for safe, proper equipment operation.
• Operate at all times within APT policies and procedures under the current revision; report to the Tool Room Supervisor.

This position reports to the Tool Room Supervisor and has no supervisory responsibilities.

• High school diploma required.
• Approximately 10 years of general machining experience desired; Tool & Die or other machinist certifications are a plus.
• Working knowledge of feeds, speeds, and materials to meet varied AB and Customer requirements.
• Blueprint proficiency—capable of reading, creating, and machining parts with or without blueprints.
• Continuous learner with high energy; self‑starter who is results‑oriented, confident, organized, flexible, and proactive.

• Ability to move throughout the shop floor.
• Ability to lift and bend as tasks require.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
