Precision Machinist

A toolmaker is responsible for the manufacturing of these tools, gauges and fixtures.

• Review drawings, instructions, blueprints , or samples to ensure accurate production.

• Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.

• Must understand how to correctly set-up, operate, and clean all machines in shop (CNC may be an exception).

• Take precise measurements for cutting or grinding.

• Monitor the production process and intervene when problems arise.

• Maintains good quality while meeting and production goals.

• Must be able to understand which metrology application to use for in process and final inspections.

• Ability to operate grinders, lathes, honing machine, jig grinder, wire machine, and milling machines.

• Ability to complete simple designed assemblies and subassemblies to print.

• Ability to accurately bench check final assemblies.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
