Biomed Engineering Tech III (2600001W) The Biomed Engineering Tech III will provide preventive maintenance inspections on medical equipment to meet regulatory and departmental goals. They will regularly visit and work with customers within the hospital to assure that equipment meets departmental needs, operate test equipment necessary for inspections, and read, follow and understand manufacturer schematics to repair equipment. Responsibilities include providing repair and maintenance, troubleshooting problems, communicating status to customers, documenting work, and following through in a timely manner. The role also involves participation in equipment selection, installation, setup, disposition, and monitoring quality of service and documentation provided by manufacturers and third‑party service groups. The position assists in development and update of the Medical Equipment Management Plan, contributes to determinations of inspection and preventive maintenance requirements, engages in special projects, and demonstrates independent project leadership to manage processes through timelines. Participate in equipment selection, installation, setup, and disposition. Monitor and evaluate service and documentation quality from manufacturers and third‑party groups. Assist in development and update of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Engage in special projects involving selection, installation, adaptation, design, modification, or disposition of equipment. Demonstrate independent project leadership, managing processes through timelines and communicating status. Provide on‑call coverage to ensure 24‑hour emergency coverage for the hospital. Prepare purchase order requests for repair parts, including vendor selection and follow‑up to ensure parts are delivered and installed. Contact requestors regarding work orders, notifying receipt, estimated time of arrival, and steps to complete work. Represent engineering staff professionally and helpfully. Communicate with staff and management to solve problems and improve processes, support team work efforts, and assist new team members with general information. Act as a member of the internal engineering emergency response team. Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED plus completion of a two‑year vocational/technical program or an AA degree equivalent in a related field. Minimum Work Experience: 3–6 years inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of medical equipment, including physiologic monitors, infusion pumps, electrocardiographs, blood pressure monitors, infant incubators, electric beds, nurse call systems, cribs, sterilizer washers, OR lights, OR tables, radiant warmers, electrosurgical units, defibrillator monitors, patient scales, hypo/hyperthermia equipment, physical therapy equipment, sterilizers, operating room equipment, and certain clinical laboratory equipment (centrifuges, incubators, slide stainers, shakers, warmers, flame photometers). Additionally, at least 3 additional years experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment such as anesthesia instruments, hemodialysis units, ventilators, advanced cardiac catheterization monitoring, lasers, heart‑lung bypass machines, ultrasound, clinical laboratory analyzers, and/or radiologic equipment, demonstrated through manufacturer service training or other reliable source and ability to repair without assistance.
