Physical Therapist (Article 16)

Position Overview HCA is seeking a NYS Licensed PT to provide habilitative services in our OPWDD Article 16 Clinic. We especially welcome clinicians who have experience engaging individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), have a working knowledge of habilitative and functional treatment planning, demonstrate strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills and are committed to client‑centered practice. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provision of services for participants Complete Physical Therapy initial evaluations and revaluations for individuals on clinician’s caseload Use professional training and collaborative discussion with the individual to develop practical, goal‑driven treatment plans Uses best practices in performing implementation of Physical Therapy treatments Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams Maintain compliance with applicable State and Federal laws and regulations as well as follows agency protocol Complete all program documentation in a timely manner and per Agency standards and related regulatory practices. Documentation includes but not limited to: treatment plans, treatment notes, initial evaluations, billing forms, incident reports and discharge summaries. Provide initial and ongoing training to PTA. Work with student interns as assigned. Attend staff meetings and other meetings/committees as directed by supervisor. Participate in the Clinic’s QA committee meeting when available. Participate in workshops and other professional development activities to expand and/or maintain knowledge of best practices and the PT discipline practices. Attend all required trainings as directed by supervisor and maintain training certifications. Requirements Education/Experience DPT (Doctorate) in Physical Therapy required; unless a Bachelors or master’s degree in physical therapy and licensed prior to 1/2016. Registered and licensed New York State (required) One or more years of experience with evaluation and provision of physical therapy services to individuals with disabilities preferred. Qualifications And Knowledge Must possess valid New York State driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must be willing to work late afternoon/early evening hours based on the therapy needs of assigned caseload. Successful completion of required orientation and annual training. Position requires good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate teamwork and professionalism. Basic word processing and e‑mail skills are required. May be requested to complete an evaluation or training in an individual’s home. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch and bend. Fingering is required regularly for typing and the use of hands in a repetitive motion. Regularly required to talk and hear with the ability to exchange and receive detailed information. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screens and operation of equipment. Working conditions of this position do not substantially expose workers to adverse environmental conditions and are typical of an indoor work environment.
