Senior Product Designer

Choice Hotels is evolving how we build, deliver, and scale solutions through a shift to a Product Operating Model (POM). We are building cross‑functional product teams empowered to drive outcomes for guests, franchisees, owners, and associates. Senior Product Designer As a Senior Product Designer at Choice Hotels, you will own the design of a targeted initiative within a Product Team, shaping decisions from the first conversation to the final product. What You’ll Do Customer Research & Discovery: Spend real time with customers to uncover needs they can’t articulate, and convert that research, analytics, and feedback into design strategies that shape the product’s direction and lead discovery sessions. Prototyping & Ideation: Sketch, wireframe, and prototype at varying fidelity—from napkin sketches to interactive prototypes—to test concepts with customers before engineering commits, while crafting user journeys that balance needs with brand, technical, and business constraints. Design Craft & Systems: Translate low‑fidelity exploration into production‑ready UI, maintaining high usability and visual polish to avoid confusing, functional failures. Collaboration & Communication: Partner with Product Managers and Tech Leads as equals, document intent and edge cases for engineering, and present strategic design recommendations to stakeholders. Problem Solving & Analysis: Tackle complex, ambiguous design problems independently, using data and research, while deciding when to involve peers or leadership for high‑stakes calls, and iterate on evidence after launch to improve journeys and conversion. What We’re Looking For Deep mastery of human‑centered design and systems thinking with a record of owning design end‑to‑end. Capability to translate design thinking into strategy‑aligned solutions, conduct original research, and demonstrate specific customer insights that changed designs. Advocacy for usability and accessibility, linking user value to the product vision and outcomes. Advanced production‑ready design skills, strong interaction and visual design, and realistic knowledge of front‑end constraints. Skill in navigating value, usability, feasibility, and viability trade‑offs with Product Managers and Tech Leads, while working independently and checking in with management on complex decisions. Ability to manage multiple workstreams, surface ambiguity early, and communicate clearly in terms of customer outcomes rather than only visuals. Influential storytelling that shapes product strategy. Not a Good Fit If Your process requires a fully defined problem statement before you can start, as the role involves defining problems. You have primarily executed on specifications rather than owning the problem definition. Engineering constraints are seen as someone else’s concern. Salary Range $142,000 to $167,000 annually.
