Somerton Town Council is seeking an Executive Officer (Town Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer) who wants to make a meaningful difference in a town with character and a strong sense of community. This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys shaping how an organisation works, improving what it delivers and helping elected members make confident, well informed decisions. Somerton is a historic market town with a proud identity and a council ready to build on its existing priorities while taking a fresh look at what comes next. We have a committed team and a community that cares deeply about its town, and now is the moment to refine our focus and organise the next phase of work. We’re looking for a Clerk who can help reset direction with clarity and purpose – somehow who brings structure, momentum and calm authority to a busy, visible organisation. You’ll play a central role in strengthening how the Council operates: revisiting the Town Plan to confirm our long-term direction, preparing for potential future devolution opportunities, and helping us plan responsibly for long term needs such as cemetery capacity.
