In line with our 2040 Community Strategic Plan, City of Newcastle is seeking an experienced Strategic Planner to join our Strategic Planning Team within the Planning and Development Service Unit. Employment Details Full‑time Permanent position. 35‑hour week with flexible/hybrid work arrangements and optional 9‑day fortnight. Annual leave: 4 weeks; personal leave: 3 weeks plus 2 additional paid public holidays. 17.5% annual leave loading, paid parental leave for primary carers. Industry leading employment conditions. Role Overview As part of the Strategic Planning Team, you will use your expertise to prepare specialist strategic land use and development policy advice, support the development and management of land use planning strategies, and contribute to key council strategic policy documents. You will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build understanding and support for strategies across City of Newcastle and the broader community. Help shape holistic, city‑wide and place‑specific land use policy and planning outcomes that align with the Community Strategic Plan and support Newcastle’s future growth. Key Responsibilities Prepare specialist strategic land use and development policy advice. Support the development and management of land use planning strategies. Contribute to key council strategic policy documents. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build understanding and support for strategies across City of Newcastle and the broader community.
