Help

Serving as a Management Analyst GS-0343-12/13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Front Office.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Management Analyst as a consultant and advisor on significant and sensitive issues impacting the agency and its relationship with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), other Bureaus and offices within the Center, and Partner Organizations (PO).

Typical duties include:

  • Serving as a principal coordinator for departmental taskings, executive correspondence, controlled correspondence, Congressional inquiries, legislative and departmental initiative reviews, data calls, briefing requests, senior leadership information requests, and other time-sensitive actions.
  • Recommending and making substantive revisions to ensure final products are completed, coordinated, timely, and aligned with leadership direction.
  • Maintaining tracking systems, monitoring deadlines, documenting status, preparing reports, and ensuring incoming and outgoing action items are properly recorded, assigned, updated, and closed.
  • Ensuring correspondence packages, approvals, supporting documentation, and related records are maintained in accordance with applicable records management requirements and office document control practices.
  • Providing oral briefings and written updates to leadership, senior officials, and other stakeholders on tasking status, correspondence issues, administrative matters, and items requiring decision or follow-up.

  • Must successfully pass a background investigation to access, safeguard, and store classified national security information on a regular basis; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (3N - Critical Sensitive, High Risk) security clearance.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Position is Emergency Essential and required to sustain FLETC's operations under all conditions of DHS operations to ensure Continuity of Operations for Mission Essential Functions in the event of an emergent disruption of operations.

GS-13 Specialized Experience

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: Coordinating organizational taskings and correspondence across multiple offices; reviewing and analyzing written products and responses for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established requirements; tracking action items, deadlines, and workflow to identify delays and coordination issues; analyzing processes and workload information and recommending improvements; and preparing, reviewing, and combining information from multiple sources for reports, briefings, memoranda, and other written products for management and senior leadership.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 grade level, or an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

GS-12 Specialized Experience

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: Assisting with coordinating organizational taskings and correspondence; reviewing written products and responses for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established requirements; tracking action items, deadlines, and workflow and following up on incomplete or delayed responses; identifying routine workflow or coordination issues and recommending improvements; and preparing, reviewing, and organizing information for reports, briefing, memorandum, and other written products for managements.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 grade level, or an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Re-employed annuitants' annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases. FERS retirees receiving a FERS annuity supplement must also be aware that, like social security benefits, their FERS annuity supplement is subject to an earnings test and may be reduced if the salary earned is more than the social security exempt amount of earnings. Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of our mission, FLETC requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation for Top Secret as a condition of placement in this position. This review may include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.

Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary.

Work Environment: The work is performed primarily in an office setting. Some travel may be required.
