Software Development Engineer, Efficiency & Performance

Salary: $77,000 - 105,000 per year Requirements:

• We expect at least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• We expect at least 2 years of non-internship experience in design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling for new and existing systems.
• We require hands-on programming experience in at least one software language.
• We value 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• A bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent background is preferred.

• We solve performance and efficiency challenges that appear at scale.
• We define metrics and evaluate the performance and cost efficiency of services across our ecosystem.
• We partner with service teams to uncover inefficiencies and design and implement improvements.
• We build highly available components and profiling tools.
• We collaborate with service and infrastructure teams across Amazon to identify and remove bottlenecks in large-scale distributed systems.
• We design and develop mechanisms to measure, analyze, and automate performance gains.
• We use data to establish and drive company-wide efficiency goals.
• We work closely with Principal and Distinguished Engineers to advance our technical depth and leadership growth.
