Lecturer Pool AY 25-26: Department of Teacher Education

Part‑Time Lecturer Pool Position One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for the Fall Semester 2025 and/or Spring Semester 2026. Faculty Employment Opportunity Department of Teacher Education offers the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art, Dance, English, History/Social Studies, Mathematics (all areas including Advanced), Music, Physical Education, Science (General and Integrated), Theatre, and Languages Other Than English (Chinese, French and Spanish). The Department offers four Master of Science (MS) degrees in Education: Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Technology, Reading Instruction, and Early Childhood Education. More information: Duties of the Position The Department of Teacher Education seeks part‑time lecturers to teach courses that may be scheduled at the Hayward campus, the Concord Center, and/or online. Most courses are held in the evenings and weekends. Assignments may include courses in the multiple subject credential program, single subject credential program (including methods courses), early childhood education (undergraduate minor and master’s), curriculum master’s, reading master’s, and educational technology leadership master’s. All faculty members perform all duties within the state of California. Rank and Salary Salary is dependent on educational preparation and experience, and appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations. Salary ranges for the Lecturer‑Academic Year classification are: Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507 – $6,677 Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221 – $13,224 Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825 – $14,523 Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593 – $15,211 The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Dates of Appointment Fall Semester: 08/18/25 – 12/19/25 Spring Semester: 01/20/26 – 05/22/26 Qualifications Master’s degree in education or related field. Teaching experience in a K‑12 setting. Advanced knowledge relative to course assignment and understanding of how adults learn. Demonstrated ability to teach and evaluate candidates from diverse educational, cultural, and work backgrounds. Ability to work successfully in a team and make independent judgments. Good written and oral communication skills. Commitment to personal and professional lifelong learning. Willingness to be available and accessible to candidates. Experience with online or hybrid courses is preferred but not required. Application Deadline Positions are open until filled.
