Estimator Construction

Job Roles and Responsibilities


• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns across all CSI divisions.
• Develop budgets, cost models, and bid proposals aligned with project scope.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain subcontractor databases and support prequalification processes.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with project managers and superintendents during project handoff.
• Support scope clarification, buyout processes, and change order pricing.
• Evaluate site conditions, logistics, and risk factors for inclusion in estimates.
• Maintain historical cost data, estimating templates, and cost catalogs.
• Track and report estimate accuracy, bid performance, and cost drivers.
• Prepare executive summaries, variance reports, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Qualifications and Certifications


• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• 3-7 years of construction estimating experience in General Contractor, Construction Manager, or Developer environments.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.
• Proficiency with estimating tools such as Bluebeam, Procore Estimating, Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, or On-Screen Takeoff.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in value engineering and cost optimization.
• Strong understanding of construction workflows, logistics, and risk assessment.
