IT Lead - Legal Operations Technology

Position SummaryThe IT Lead – Legal Operations Technology is responsible for enabling the technology strategy, delivery, and ongoing support of systems that enable the Global Legal & Compliance (GLC) function.This role operates within IT and partners closely with Legal Operations to ensure that legal technologies, platforms, and data capabilities are scalable, secure, and aligned to enterprise architecture and standards.The role focuses on technology enablement, including roadmap development, system optimization, vendor engagement, digital transformation initiatives, and delivery of high-quality IT services supporting legal processes. It does not own business operations, but instead provides technical leadership and execution in support of Legal’s priorities.Key Responsibilities1. Legal Technology Strategy & RoadmapSupport the development of a multi-year technology roadmap for Legal & Compliance systems in partnership with Legal OperationsTranslate Legal business needs into scalable, enterprise-grade AI-enabled IT solutionsEnsure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standardsIdentify opportunities to modernize and streamline legal technology platforms and integrations2. Application & Platform OwnershipAct as the IT owner for Legal technology platforms (e.g., ELM, eBilling, Legal Holds, Compliance tools) with proficient understanding of legal processes in litigation, matter management, billing, and contract administrationOversee system configuration governance, enhancements, and lifecycle managementEnsure system reliability, performance, and data integrity across platformsDrive standardization and simplification of the Legal application landscapeManage the GLC SharePoint site as it relates to knowledge management and dissemination3. Service Delivery & OperationsProvide governance over day-to-day support operations, including internal teams and managed service providersManage SLAs, KPIs, and service performance to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverySupport incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiativesCoordinate release management, testing, and environment readiness4. Project & Program DeliveryLead delivery of Legal IT projects and enhancements, ensuring alignment to scope, budget, and timelinesPartner with Legal Ops to support technology program execution and prioritizationDrive structured project delivery using IT PMO methodologies and governanceSupport business case development, cost estimation, and investment planning5. Data, Reporting & AnalyticsDeliver and maintain reporting and analytics solutions supporting Legal operations and decision-makingEnsure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across Legal systemsPartner with data and analytics teams to enable dashboards, forecasting, and ad-hoc reporting, including data analytics6. Vendor & Technology EvaluationLead evaluation, selection, and implementation of Legal technology solutionsSupport RFI/RFP processes, vendor assessments, and contract alignment (from a technical perspective)Manage vendor relationships focused on technical delivery, integration, and service performance7. Integration & ArchitectureEnsure seamless integration between Legal systems and enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, HR, Finance, Identity)Define and maintain integration standards and patternsCollaborate with enterprise architects and integration teams to ensure scalability and compliance8. Continuous Improvement & Digital TransformationIdentify opportunities to automate legal processes and improve user experienceDrive adoption of new capabilities, tools, and technologiesStay informed on legal technology trends and best practices and translate into actionable IT initiativesQualifications & ExperienceRequiredBachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field8+ years of experience in enterprise IT application delivery and supportProven record of driving technology adoption and operational processProficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerBIProven experience in:Supporting global legal functions and understanding core legal tasks and processes such as matter and litigation management, contract lifecycle management, compliance reporting, etc.Application ownership and lifecycle managementIT project/program deliveryVendor and service managementTechnical solution design and implementationStrong understanding of enterprise architecture, integrations, and data flowsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skillsLocal residents (or those willing to relocate), with the ability to work onsite in Troy, MIMust be legally able to work in the United States without requirement of any type of visa sponsorship or transfer now, or at any time in the futurePreferredExperience with Legal technology platforms (e.g., Onit, BillingPoint, Legal Tracker, SAI, iCertis, DocuSign CLM, NAVEX, Diligent, or similar)Experience in Legal AI tools (e.g. Harvey, Legora, Claude for Legal, Co-Counsel, etc.)Experience supporting and driving adoption of AI-enabled tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms) to improve productivity and business outcomesExperience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow)Experience working in a global, matrixed organizationKnowledge of ITIL, SDLC, and agile delivery methodologiesKey CompetenciesTechnical leadership and architectural thinking.Strong service delivery and operational excellence mindset.Ability to translate business needs into scalable IT solutions.Data-driven decision-making and analytical thinking.Collaboration across IT and business functions.Continuous improvement and innovation mindset.Analytical and problem‑solving mindset.Customer‑focused approach to service delivery.High integrity, ownership, and attention to detail.WHY JOIN US?Grow with purpose.
