Accountant 2 Department: Finance and Bus Resources (FIN) Employment Type: Full Time Location: San Antonio Reporting To: Description This position is responsible for mid-level accounting processes, reporting, and accurate record keeping in assigned areas. Mid-level position – Generally has more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Prepares monthly and year-end financial statements and journals Adhere to all Company deadlines and reporting requirements as set by management or from Federal, State, and local rules and regulations Investigates and resolves balance sheet reconciling items on a timely basis Provides accounting assistance to senior management /business units and respond to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs Prepare internal financial reports and complete special projects as assigned by Finance Managers and Leadership Assists with identifying risk by evaluating compliance and makes appropriate recommendations where necessary Works safely at all times, and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of business accounting principles, budget preparation, and strong business acumen Advanced knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) as it applies to the industry and company Working knowledge in the use of computer programs and systems utilized by the company (DBS, CODA, Sage100c, Clarity, Microsoft Dynamics, Excel, etc.) Strong research, problem solving and investigation skills Strong interpersonal communication skills including both written and oral Ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization Excellent organizational, planning, multi-tasking, and time management skills, deadline oriented Ability to work independently and manage a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required Three years of related work experience required; six years preferred Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Up to 5% Physical Requirements: This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc. This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 15lbs.
