Role Mission
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is primarily responsible for providing health services to students, conducting state‑mandated screenings, maintaining 100% immunization state compliance, and maintaining accurate files. The LPN is responsible for leading the campus clinic independently, serving up to 1,600 students, and promoting health education and preventative health practices for students.
Compensation
- Starting compensation is set at an hourly rate ranging between $20.34 for 0 years of experience and $25.42 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

What You Bring – Competencies
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of diabetic care management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient keyboarding and electronic file maintenance skills.
- Ability to use laptop and software to develop datasets.
- Ability to track, enter, analyze, and monitor data.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and execute toward goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- LVN or LPN licensure (required).
- Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid (required).
- Certification by state department of health services to conduct vision, hearing, spinal, and AN screenings (preferred).
- At least 2 years’ experience in a health‑related position (required).
- Experience with school‑age children (preferred).
- Experience maintaining electronic health records (preferred).
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Health Services
- Provide direct care utilizing professional triage skills, basic care, and established school health protocols.
- Manage campus clinic independently for up to 1,600 students.
- Serve as health advocate for students.
- Notify parents of accidents or illnesses and secure medical care in emergency cases.
- Coordinate medication administration system for students.
- Implement procedures for mandatory screening programs and make referrals as necessary.
- Ensure immunization compliance per state requirements.
Consultation
- Serve as health liaison between school, physicians, parents, and community.
- Assess student problems and make appropriate referrals.
- Participate in health‑related school committees focused on student health and wellness.
- Collaborate with other professionals regarding Individual Education Plan items.
- Participate in recognizing and reporting suspected child abuse.
- Make home visits to help with student health problems with principal permission.
- Communicate regularly with assistant principal, regional RN, school counselor, teachers, parents, food services staff, and other staff regarding health services issues.
Administration
- Collect, review, and enter immunization records; ensure compliance throughout the school year.
- Compile, maintain, and file physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents required.
- Request supplies and equipment needed for clinic inventory.
- Comply with federal and state laws, state health rules, board education rules, and district policies.
- Report potential health and safety hazards to campus assistant principal.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
Professional Development
- Maintain licensure as LPN/LVN.
- Maintain certification in CPR/First Aid and state‑approved vision, hearing, spinal, and AN screening.
