POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Estimator supports the Estimating team and Operations in preparing Estimates and bid documents for renovation projects.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in preparing cost estimates for multifamily renovation projects by gathering and organizing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing under the guidance of senior estimating staff.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to support quantity takeoffs and scope understanding.
• Support collaboration with project managers, architects, engineers, and senior estimators to collect project information and ensure estimates align with project requirements.
• Utilize estimating software and spreadsheets to input data, perform takeoffs, and help maintain accurate project estimates.
• Participate in site visits with senior team members to gain familiarity with project scope, site conditions, and potential challenges.
• Prepare draft estimate summaries and cost breakdowns for review by senior estimators or management.
• Assist with updating estimates as project details change, tracking revisions and documenting adjustments.
• Help solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, organize quotes, and compare pricing for review.
• Support the preparation of bid proposals by compiling required documentation and ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain and update estimating files, historical cost data, and project records to support future estimates.
• Learn and stay informed on industry practices, estimating tools, and construction methods through training and on-the-job experience.
• Provide administrative and technical support to project managers, accounting staff, and supervisors related to submittals, change orders, invoices, and RFIs for awarded projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the multifamily renovation sector.
• Knowledge of estimating software such as Bluebeam, OST, or similar tools.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications, preferred.
• Effective analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations related to multifamily renovations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Working Conditions

• This position may require occasional travel to project sites.
• Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with some site visits.
