Radiologic Technologist I

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. They perform all essential job functions as listed below:

Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and providing immobilization devices. Selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Selects and operates equipment as required for specific procedures. Restricts the radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to avoid exposure of unaffected parts of the patient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in various areas including patient rooms and operating rooms. Follows operational procedures to identify patient films with their name and x-ray number, and correctly marks the film regarding the side of the patient taken. Develops exposed x-ray films using available processing methods. Completes patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film. Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed. Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists physicians in administering these mixtures to patients. Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, providing patient instruction, film filing, and maintaining records. Renders services and/or assistance to all patients depending on individual needs and abilities in moving and turning. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies and modifies care based on the needs of the patient population served, including age, culture, language, and any impairments. Communicates with the patient or primary caregivers at their level of understanding. Adheres to the standards identified in the Organizational Competencies of the facility.
