The Sheraton by Marriott of Eatontown is seeking candidates for the position of Banquet Captain to join our award-winning team. The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing all banquet events and ensure banquet operations run smoothly. The Banquet Captain oversees staff while focusing on providing high quality customer service and promoting an environment centered around teamwork.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Delegate duties as assigned to team members
• Assist with the organizing, planning, and execution of all banquet functions
• Oversee banquet staff training and development
• Assist banquet staff with proper table set-up, food and beverage service, and clean-up
• Ensure all banquet staff are following standard operating procedures
• Assure all functions are properly staffed in accordance with event size
• Coordinates food service between cooking staff and floor staff
• Check tables for cleanliness, attractiveness, and layout

Compensation and Benefits include:

• This position offers a starting rate that ranges from $18.00 to $18.50 per hour.
• Part time employees will have the opportunity to earn paid time-off and join the company's retirement plans (once qualified).

Requirements

Job Qualifications & Skills

• At least 2 years of experience as a banquet captain, server, or server-oriented role
• Excellent organization and multi-tasking abilities
• Customer service orientation with strong attention to detail
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift at least 20lbs
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
