MIG Welder

This role focuses on welding and fabricating metal parts to precise specifications using MIG techniques in a fast-paced production environment. You will read blueprints, follow detailed instructions, and work with various metals, including steel and aluminum, to produce clean, durable welds. The position involves cutting, shaping, and finishing metal components, maintaining a safety-first work area, and contributing to documentation and continuous improvement efforts while collaborating closely with the production team.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate metal parts to specification using MIG welding techniques.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Cut, bend, and shape metal components to meet job requirements.
• Smooth and finish welded components to achieve clean, durable results.
• Work with different metals, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Use hand tools and grinding equipment to prepare, assemble, and finish parts.
• Follow detailed instructions, production procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
• Document work performed and support continuous improvement and production efficiency initiatives.
• Assist with other duties in the production area as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
• Operate effectively in a loud, hot, and fast-paced production setting around industrial equipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of MIG welding experience in a production or fabrication environment.
• Proficiency in MIG welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed specifications.
• Experience with metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, and assembling metal parts.
• Competence using hand tools and grinding equipment for finishing and assembly work.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and safety.
• Ability to perform basic math to support measurements and fabrication tasks.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and regularly bend, reach, climb, crouch, and stand throughout the shift.
• Manual dexterity and good close-up, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus-adjustment vision to ensure accuracy and safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment with industrial equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with TIG welding is a plus.
• Experience in production welding or manufacturing environments.
• Comfort working with stainless steel and aluminum welding applications.
• Ability to contribute to continuous improvement and process optimization.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to support a collaborative production environment.

Work Environment

The role is based on a production floor with industrial equipment in an active, fast-paced setting. The facility is climate controlled, though the welding area can become hot due to ongoing welding operations, and the environment can be loud, especially during peak production. The organization typically operates 10-hour days and is currently running an extended mandatory overtime schedule to meet production demands. For the first two weeks, the schedule is 1st shift, 4:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The normal 1st shift schedule is 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays scheduled as needed for overtime based on business needs. Work is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring comfort with prolonged standing and movement around industrial equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southport, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
