Staff Bookkeeper

Do Your Thing delivers financial intelligence to our ongoing clients to assist them in making the best, most strategic decisions for their businesses. The Staff Bookkeeper has an assigned portfolio of ongoing, retainer Clients, and may also be asked to step in to cover for a colleague or to assist with project work. Specific responsibilitiesMonthly Bookkeeping: Proceeding through the monthly bookkeeping workflow in Karbon for assigned portfolio of clients, completing work by the internal monthly deadline. Specific tasks in the monthly workflow include:Sending Client Requests as needed for any statements or other info needed from Client to begin work;Reconciling bank, credit card, loan accounts;Securing Client input on Uncategorized Expenses in Sheets, along with any other Open Questions;Making any necessary updates in Quickbooks Online following receipt of info from Client, and performing Quality Control/review steps, including monthly 1099-related tasks;Preparing package of monthly reports, updating Cash Flow tool (as applicable), sending to Ariane for review.Other Bookkeeping Tasks: Processing weekly/bi-weekly/bi-monthly accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or payroll tasks for assigned Clients, as appropriate and as detailed in specific workflows in Karbon.Projects: Assisting with forensic/reconstructive bookkeeping for new/catch-up Clients as needed.Internal Communications: Communicating regularly with teammates via monthly Team Zooms, on-going Slack and in comments on specific workflows.External Communications: some degree of communication with designated Clients within Karbon to support work product delivery, all via email. Skills/Software Experience required:Minimum 5 years professional bookkeeping experience, degree helpful but not required;Quickbooks Online Level 1 certification, Level 2 helpful but not requiredExperience working in Karbon, Google suite, Quickbooks Time/Workforce, Gusto, Avalara 1099/W9 (formerly Track1099), Slack;Experience working successfully as part of a remote team;Excellent time- and project-management abilities.Positive problem-solving can-do attitude.
