Senior Claims Counsel, Cyber & Professional Liability

Job Summary Senior Claims Counsel, Cyber & Professional Liability for the Financial Lines Claims team. The role conducts thorough investigations, analysis, evaluation and disposition of claims and claim litigation, achieves superior customer service, optimizes claim results, and provides legal advice and participates in strategic initiatives. Responsibilities Manage a caseload of primary and excess Cyber, Technology and Miscellaneous E&O, and Media Liability claims; analyze loss notices, draft coverage correspondences, appoint and manage counsel, establish reserves, negotiate and resolve claims, and maintain comprehensive claims files. Prepare and present reports on loss development, exposure, reserve adjustments, coverage issues, and claim and recovery strategies. Collaborate with underwriting on significant claim exposures. Work closely with internal and external partners such as retail and wholesale brokers, insureds and their counsel to resolve claims. Assist with Ascot’s 24/7 Cyber Breach Hotline. Maintain knowledge of cyber trends and provide feedback to claims and underwriting teams. Monitor marketplace conditions, conduct research, and draft reference materials on law impacting underwriting and claim decisions. Obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses. Travel to attend mediations, industry conferences, settlement & claim conferences, trials, depositions, and assist with marketing efforts. Minimum 6 years of legal or claim‑handling experience, ideally with Cyber/Tech E&O/Media claims at an insurance carrier or in private practice. Ability to work through conflict and resolve issues professionally. Ability to make sound decisions and negotiate terms within authority limits. Strong time‑management and prioritization skills in a fast‑paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate coverage determinations. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners. Self‑starter who can work independently. Microsoft Office proficiency and claims system skills. Compensation Annualized base pay range: $150,000 – $165,000. Base pay may vary based on experience. Total compensation may include annual cash bonus and discretionary awards.
