Security Site Supervisor - College Campus Residences

BSG is seeking a Security Site Supervisor for a prestigious private university in Oakland. The role of Site Supervisor will oversee a large team—including Shift Supervisors and regular Campus Residence Officers—providing residence access controls through high visibility, deterrence, patrols, safety escorts, building checks, and community engagement. The Site Supervisor ensures their entire team fosters positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors, promoting a safe and welcoming environment. The Site Supervisor manages the primary response to emergencies, overseeing the monitoring of security, communications, and fire/life safety systems, accurate event documentation, and the enforcement of campus residential rules. The Site Supervisor reports to the Account Manager and serves as the primary liaison between campus personnel, students, law enforcement, and BSG management. The Site Supervisor ensures all shifts are staffed 24/7 through strategic management of their leadership team. Candidates should have excellent communication and leadership skills, the ability to manage large teams, strong attention to detail, and the capability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations. Prior experience in security management, law enforcement, or a related field is required. Eligibility to work in the United States. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Possess a current California Guard Card License. A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required for applicable sites. Reliable transportation is necessary. Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus. Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges. Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively. Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards. Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement. Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols. At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Successfully pass a background check and drug screening. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Physical Requirements: This role requires specific physical abilities to ensure the Security Guard can effectively perform essential job duties. The candidate must be able to: Stand or Walk for Extended Periods: Ability to stand and walk for long shifts, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain. Climb Stairs: Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and check all areas. Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment, and assist with other duties as necessary. Physical Endurance: Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather. Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks. Run or Move Quickly: Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond quickly to emergencies or incidents. Physical Stamina: Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused throughout the shift. De-escalate stressful situations with professionalism and patience. Kneeling and Bending: Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas, secure entrances, or assist in emergencies. Vision and Hearing: Strong vision and hearing to observe surroundings, monitor security systems, and detect alarms or sounds of distress. Roles and Responsibilities: Patrol and Surveillance: Perform regular patrols of assigned areas, including multi-level buildings and outdoor spaces, while standing or walking for extended periods Climb stairs frequently to inspect all areas thoroughly. Incident Response: Respond swiftly to emergencies or incidents, including sprinting short distances if necessary. Use manual dexterity to operate security equipment such as radios, keys, and locks efficiently. Equipment Handling: Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds to assist with security tasks or emergencies. Secure heavy items or assist with moving necessary supplies as part of the role. Situational Awareness: Utilize strong vision and hearing abilities to monitor surroundings, identify potential security threats, and detect alarms or sounds of distress. Conflict Resolution: De-escalate stressful or potentially volatile situations with professionalism, patience, and effective communication skills. Prolonged Alertness: Maintain focus and remain alert throughout long shifts, ensuring the safety and security of the premises. Emergency Preparedness: Assist in evacuations or other emergency responses, utilizing physical stamina and agility to support individuals in need. Reporting and Documentation: Keep accurate and detailed activity logs, documenting all patrols, incidents, and observations during the shift. Prepare comprehensive reports for any incidents ensuring records are clear and precise for review.
