Key Responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technician

• Adheres to UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS standards
• Understand and comply with policies and procedures
• Venipuncture skill
• Performs Daily Quality Control & Daily Maintenance per guidelines
• Completes testing in a timely, concise manner
• Operation and Troubleshooting of Chemistry Analyzers
• Operation and Troubleshooting UA Analyzer
• Operation and Troubleshooting Hematology Analyzer
• Operation and Troubleshooting Coag Analyzer
• Blood Bank Testing (type, RH, Antibody Screening, compatibility testing, QC)
• Misc. Testing (serological/micro testing, microscopic, etc.)
• Communication (shares important information with co-workers, supervisor, fellow employees, physicians)

Requirements of the Medical Laboratory Technician

• ASCP or AMT certification at time of submission
• Experience using Cerner as EMR
• Blood bank experience is a plus
