Counter Sales Representative – HVAC Supply

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, in person

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Counter Sales Representative to assist contractors and customers with HVAC and refrigeration products. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, basic HVAC knowledge, and the ability to accurately process orders while working in a fast-paced supply house environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, knowledgeable service

• Answer incoming telephone calls professionally

• Assist customers with product selection, pricing, availability, and technical questions

• Accurately enter and process customer orders, invoices, credits, returns, and warranty or reclaim transactions

• Recommend related products, accessories, and suitable product substitutions

• Follow up on customer requests, commitments, and outstanding orders

• Maintain accurate cash-box transactions and reconciliation

• Use vendor catalogs, price sheets, cross-reference materials, specification sheets, and safety data sheets

• Receive, break down, stock, and organize incoming inventory

• Load and unload company vehicles, customer vehicles, and outside carrier deliveries

• Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment

• Make local deliveries when needed

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe showroom, counter, warehouse, and exterior work area

• Participate in the rotating after-hours emergency-call schedule

• Complete additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous counter sales, customer service, HVAC supply, plumbing supply, wholesale distribution, or warehouse experience preferred

• Basic knowledge of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration products

• Ability to cross-reference parts and recommend substitute or complementary products

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

• Comfortable using computers for order entry, inventory, invoicing, returns, and product research

• Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and coworkers

• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions in a fast-paced environment

• Valid driver’s license preferred for occasional deliveries

• Forklift experience preferred; training may be provided

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move products weighing up to 75 pounds

• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, stretch, and climb ladders

• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for computer entry and material handling

• Ability to work safely around chemicals and solvents

• Comfortable working on concrete floors in both heated retail areas and unheated warehouse areas

Schedule Requirements

• 7:30AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday

• Overtime may be required during peak seasons, inventory periods, and other busy times
