We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparation Manager / Bookkeeper to join our team. This position will oversee tax preparation operations while also managing day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities for individual and business clients.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential financial information, and able to manage multiple clients and deadlines during tax season.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Preparation
Prepare and review federal and state individual and business tax returns.
Review tax documents for accuracy, completeness, and potential issues.
Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and documentation.
Ensure tax returns are prepared accurately and submitted within required deadlines.
Stay current with federal and state tax regulations, forms, and filing requirements.
Assist clients with basic tax-related questions and documentation.
Review completed returns for quality control before filing.

Bookkeeping & Accounting:

Maintain accurate financial records for clients and/or the company.
Record and categorize income, expenses, deposits, and transactions.
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Assist with payroll-related bookkeeping and financial reporting.
Organize and maintain financial documentation and records.
Management Responsibilities
Manage daily tax preparation and bookkeeping workflow.
Review work completed by tax preparers and bookkeeping staff.
Assign tasks and monitor deadlines during tax season.
Train and support staff as needed.
Maintain client confidentiality and follow appropriate data-security procedures.
Help improve office procedures, organization, and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax preparation procedures.
Experience preparing individual tax returns; business tax experience is preferred.
Bookkeeping and account reconciliation experience.
Proficiency with accounting and tax preparation software.
Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
