Lead Senior Accountant

General Purpose The Lead Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting through the analysis of financial data, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, and participation in month?end close activities. This role also reviews staff work, supports internal and external audit processes and contributes to the ongoing enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules as part of the month?end close process Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research variances or discrepancies Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements and related fluctuation analysis Review staff work Support internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules and documentation Collaborate with accounts payable and accounts receivable teams to ensure accurate and efficient accounting processes Help maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Participate in process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and special projects Mentor and collaborate with junior accounting staff as appropriate Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 4 years of progressive accounting experience Public accounting experience highly preferred CPA or CPA?track strongly preferred Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles Experience with month?end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) Experience with ERP or accounting systems (NetSuite, Great Plains, or similar preferred) Strong analytical, organizational, and problem?solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast?paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
