Sterilization Technician/Scheduling Coordinator – Oral Surgery
Full Time M-F 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM | Thornton, CO| This is an in-office position.

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and service-driven Sterilization Technician & Scheduling Coordinator to join our team. This hybrid role plays a vital part in both the clinical and administrative success of the practice by ensuring instruments and equipment are properly sterilized while also delivering an outstanding scheduling experience for our patients and referring offices.

The day is primarily focused on sterilization and instrument processing during the morning clinical hours, transitioning to patient scheduling and administrative support in the afternoon. Role and Responsibilities

Sterilization & Clinical Support

• Collects used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
• Manually cleans supplies and instruments to remove contaminants.
• Operates and maintains decontamination and sterilization equipment.
• Prepares, packages, sterilizes, wraps, and organizes instruments and surgical trays.
• Inspects instruments and supplies to ensure proper cleaning and sterilization.
• Routinely tests sterilization equipment and reports any issues promptly.
• Prepares and delivers necessary instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Maintains accurate sterilization logs, equipment maintenance records, and inventory documentation.
• Monitors instrument and supply inventory and communicates replenishment needs.

Scheduling & Administrative Support

• Provides concierge-level customer service while interacting with patients, referring offices, and team members by phone, in person, and electronically.
• Answers incoming calls promptly and professionally.
• Schedules appointments to maximize provider efficiency and patient satisfaction.
• Assists in preparing daily provider schedules and patient charts.
• Helps coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times.
• Assists patients with scheduling questions and appointment needs.
• Maintains professional relationships with referring offices.
• Keeps the reception and scheduling areas organized and welcoming.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA.

General Responsibilities

• Demonstrates flexibility in transitioning between clinical support and administrative duties throughout the workday.
• Collaborates effectively with providers and team members to ensure efficient daily operations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of customer service experience required.
• One year of sterile processing, dental assisting, or related healthcare experience preferred.
• Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution preferred.
• Previous oral surgery or dental experience is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient safety.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and successfully transition between clinical and administrative responsibilities.
• Good organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
• Understanding of dental terminology preferred.
• Technical aptitude and familiarity with sterilization techniques and equipment.
• Manual dexterity and ability to safely handle delicate instruments.
• Basic computer and office skills, including scheduling software, typing, and filing.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
