Senior R&D Engineer - Embedded Controller Software

Job DescriptionWho You AreWe are looking for a Senior R&D Engineer responsible for the development of embedded software for FANUC’s robot controller system, including development for new features and support for legacy products. The size and complexity of assigned tasks will vary, and developers must be able to handle multiple assignments efficiently. These are systems built from embedded ‘C’, KAREL, and various other web technologies. How It’s DoneDevelopment of embedded software within a real-time operating system environment in the following areas:File systemsUser Program execution environmentMulti CPU and Multi Core architectureUser Interface technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, COMET, REST, WebGL)Memory managementSystem logging/profilingSystem and network securityAdherence to established coding standards to produce clean, clear, well-documented, and easily-maintained codeSpecification, design, and implementation of software developments or software enhancements to existing productsUpdating and modifying design and engineering documentation as required for assigned developmentsDevelopment and implementation of software tests and test proceduresDevelopment of software feature documentation and coordination with the Product Information group in the publication of product documentationResolution of field reported problems, typically of a difficult or unique natureCommunication with FANUC Japan and other engineering staff on product development and customer support related issuesPresentation of a proposed software feature concept to selling division and select customersMentoring of junior engineering staff and software development internsWhat You NeedBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldMinimum ten years of experience in an embedded software development roleWhat Would Be Even BetterMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fieldStrong FANUC robot experience including KARELExperience with source control such as ClearCase and GitRobotic Application experienceIt’s Up To YouAt FANUC America Corporation we are passionate about our customers, our employees, and the work we perform.
