MRI TechnologistMRI Technologist operates and maintains a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images from patients which are used by physicians to diagnose the nature and extent of designated pathologies. Participates in the establishment of scan protocol, as appropriate. Duties include verifying written request for MRI procedures, instructing patients regarding MRI procedures, preparing, positioning, and manipulating patients to ensure appropriate placement for imaging, selecting appropriate imaging techniques, and calibrating console and peripheral hardware as required. Obtains images, produces film records and backups from desk to storage media, and transfers from desk to work stations as requested. Performs contrast injections satisfactorily. Maintain current knowledge of MRI environmental, patient and visitor safety as defined by hospital policy, practice, ACR and Joint Commission Charges procedures in RMS accurately and immediately after procedure is performed. Sends images to PACS appropriately and verifies all are available for interpretation in a timely manner. Enters and monitors patient data and maintains accurate study documentation. Performs quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and procedures. Maintains MRI Lab supplies. May provide instruction and guidance in MRI procedures to staff in training as assigned. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Ensures adherence to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA programs and safety standards.
