Product Development Manager

WEEKLY HOURS Monday – Friday > 40 Hours per week Overtime as needed DEPARTMENT Management REPORTS TO General Manager POSITION DETAILS JOB PURPOSE Oversee the Product Development department. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the department parts such as pattern making, frame drawing, frame design, frame build for new products, upholstering of new products Providing collaborative input on new and existing furniture pieces. Working with Plant leadership to ensure all samples and existing furniture pieces meet quality, style, and requirements of the highest quality. Recommends and implements improvements need in the PD area. Correctly records, corrects and approves the PD area employees' time by the required deadlines. Assess product cost while looking for cost reduction opportunities. Works to move samples and new products thru the process from concept to finish. Ensures current product patterns are correct and if not, corrects any design issues immediately. Other duties as assigned by the Manager WORKING CONDITIONS Heated and cooled typical office environment. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Minimum SUPERVISION EXERCISED High

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 10 Years' experience in furniture upholstery, pattern making and general furniture upholstery experience. 5 years' experience in supervision. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Previous experience in PD Management is preferred. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years related experience. REQUIRED SKILLS PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Must have good vision. Must be able to lead a team with respect and dignity. Must lead by example. Must understand the lean and 5s concepts. Must be able to prioritize tasks. Must have excellent communication skills. Must have excellent computer skills. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. Must be able to work safely with a variety of tools and supplies. Must have excellent math skills. Must be a Team Player with a positive attitude. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have your own reliable transportation. Must be able to sit/stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours a day. Must be able to work Weekends and Overtime. Must be reliable. Must have strong skills in the following areas: Reading (English) Comprehending (English) Speaking Writing Communication Must be able to wear required PPE of Safety Glasses and close-toe/close-heel shoes when required. Must be able to adhere to all Safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries to yourself and others.
