Tempe, AZ POSITION: Employment Service Specialist Position Summary The Employment Support Specialist provides supported employment services to adults with developmental and other disabilities through various state contracts. This is a new position with iCare Health that will require the person to be passionate and flexible. The Employment Support Specialist will develop, implement and deliver supported employment services and provide general information/outreach/education about supported employment services/resources by fulfilling iCare’s mission, vision, and values. Supported Employment services include Transition to Employment, Pre-Employment Transition Services (PreETS), Career Preparation Readiness, Job Development & Retention, Individual Supported Employment, and Group Supported Employment. Essentially, services assist individuals to obtain and maintain competitive integrated employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Adheres to and implements policies and procedures as guided by the Employment Services Handbook, Programs Handbook and Director of Programs. Collaborate with diverse members, respecting individual identities, to secure inclusive community job placements Provide equitable support tailored to each member’s unique abilities and employment aspirations Develop positive work-related skills and habits tailored to individual employment needs Conduct assessments to identify member strengths and capabilities Develop and implement individualized training agreements in line with members' goals Maintain records with a focus on equitable service delivery and outcomes Build employer relationships, advocating for inclusive hiring practices and diverse workplaces to create job matches aligning with members' goals and strengths Engage with community networks, including schools, agencies, and families Deliver services that are culturally relevant, accessible, and respectful of all identities Champion the rights and inclusion of members in the workforce, with a focus on creating accessible and equitable competitive integrated employment opportunities Comprehensive training will be provided in disability awareness, employment strategies for individuals with disabilities, and work readiness skills Pushing or pulling of wheelchairs Sit for extended periods Performs other duties as required Must possess good communication skills both orally and in written form. Must have the ability to use a computer and other electronic equipment. Must have a desire to manage a team of staff supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Must possess self-motivation, initiative and independence to work without direct supervision. Must be flexible, reliable and dependable. Must be able to manage and embrace change, look for ways to improve your own performance and accept feedback. Must be willing to accept challenges of a 24-hour support system. Ability to plan and prioritize in order to meet deadlines. Must be willing to perform duties that are assigned outside of this job description. This job operates in a professional office environment and in the community. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires extended periods of walking and standing with some periods of sitting depending on the needs and activities of the individuals supported. It may require light to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and/or climbing stairs again depending on the needs of the individual supported. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full Time position. Occasional evening and weekend work maybe be required as job duties demand. Travel This position will be required to travel in the local communities. Required Education and Experience Minimum age of 18 years with a GED/high school diploma. At least one year of paid experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Preferred Education and Experience Experience in mentoring, teaching, or coaching roles is preferred, demonstrating a capacity for leadership and skill development in others. Experience supporting individuals obtain and maintain competitive integrated employment. Experience navigating state agencies and providing state-funded services. Work Authorizations Must obtain and maintain training and certification in all required areas such as Abuse/Neglect, CPR, First Aid, Level I Medication Administration, Prevention & Support. All employees will complete 1-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
