Patient Access Clerk Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, New York, United States About this position CHMC- Floating Patient Access Clerk – Full Time – Day Shift – 6a-6p – 8‑hour shift within this range of hours – Req 9570 Pay Range: $19.68-$26.86* Job Summary: The Patient Access Clerk is responsible for all clerical, communications, and data processing activities related to admitting and registering inpatients and outpatients to the facility. The Clerk also handles proper charging, billing, and receiving, records statistical data, and maintains financial transactions and patient records. A positive attitude toward patients, visitors, and staff, consistent with the organization’s mission and policies, is required. The Clerk will support personal growth and development, assist colleagues in maintaining their skills, and remain comfortable addressing conflict, managing strong personalities, and working in a fast‑paced environment. Reports To Patient Access Supervisor Education High school Diploma or Equivalent Required Qualifications Clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a hospital or health‑related environment, and typing speed of 40 wpm. Pleasant personality with good interpersonal skills and positive attitude. Appropriate written and verbal communication skills, professional customer‑service skills, and ability to manage conflict. Strong team player and ability to work independently. Strong critical‑thinking skills and ability to problem‑solve. Preferred Qualifications At least 6 months of medical clerical experience – highly preferred and prioritized during interviews. Knowledge of medical terminology.
