In this role you will support the regulatory requirements of SCE’s electrical distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessary resources, providing cost estimates and options for the construction of distribution facilities. You will interact with a diverse customer base to meet electrical design needs and be responsible for delivering successful outcomes for the customer on assigned or requested projects. Responsibilities Conduct long‑term grid import planning analyses and transmission interconnection assessments and projects. Manage large design projects from inception to construction completion with follow‑through on policies, procedures, rules, rates, completion dates, and ensuring compliance of electrical designs. Support the company’s electrical distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessary resources, and providing cost estimates and options for the construction of distribution facilities. Make decisions that have a direct impact on project scope, timing, budget, and course. Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the planning and development review process and verify compliance of planned projects. Assess the capabilities of the regional distribution system and assess compliance with planning criteria. Conduct power flow studies, build power flow models, and prepare economic analyses to develop short‑ and long‑term distribution system plans. Ensure distribution system performance meets reliability targets and analyze outages for cause, trends and duration. Coordinate activities with internal personnel and organizations to ensure compliance and follow‑through of policies, procedures, rules, rates, and completion dates applicable to assigned projects. Maintain knowledge of current industry practices, standards and customer needs; interact with customers to meet electrical design needs and provide successful outcomes for customers and SCE. Provide training and support, assessing and managing workload when necessary. Protect physical, financial, cybersecurity assets and manage private customer data and proprietary information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Three or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Design, Line Construction, or Engineering discipline. Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices. Experience designing and leading complex technical projects and making strategic decisions related to scope, policy, and implementation. Proficiency with advanced design and planning tools (e.g., AUD, SPIDA, AutoCAD, Design Manager). Experience providing technical oversight, reviewing complex designs, and ensuring quality and accuracy. Experience managing multiple or sensitive projects under tight timelines. Strong interpersonal skills to handle difficult stakeholder issues independently. Strong cross‑functional coordination skills (Operations, Engineering, Environmental, etc.). Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in a technical, construction, or utility environment, providing clear information, addressing inquiries, and coordinating solutions. Additional Information Work mode is hybrid. Employees will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Details will be discussed at the interview stage and may change based on business needs. Position requires up to 25% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory. Option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40‑hour/5‑day week. Relocation does not apply. Testing This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. References are available for the following tests (EEI TECH Test #5107). Candidates who have previously passed the assessment may not need to retest.
