Program Support Assistant

Program Support Assistant
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Processes applications from Veterans including verifying eligibility through various data bases, source documents including a DD214 to allow for enrollment in VA Care.
- Enters information into the Grand Junction database in accordance with VA directives including next of kin, insurance information and income information where required.
- Searches VA databases including the Enrollment Database in Atlanta to validate information presented by the Veteran for enrollment.
- Places the Veteran on the appointment list and follows up to ensure that the appointment is made to disposition the entry.
- Performs all administrative tasks pertaining to, but not limited to, Disposition of Body (Deaths); Indigent Program and Budget; and speaking and/or corresponding with family/friends/stakeholders which can include funeral homes and state entities.
- Counseling veterans and their families; legal services; funds and effects, control point maintenance, and document storage: such as filing, scanning, or other methods.
- Reviews and cancels necessary appointments and sends notifications to providers so consults can be reviewed and medication refills can be cancelled.
- Counsels patients, their families, funeral homes, and agency employees on entitlement to benefits. Referrals are made to the appropriate federal, state, and county resources as necessary.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
