Make a meaningful contribution to students’ daily experiences by supporting a high-needs focus classroom serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD). This contract position offers the opportunity to play an essential role in a dynamic educational environment that values compassion, teamwork, and professional growth.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of two years of college credits from an accredited institution, OR an associate degree or higher, OR a passing score on an approved formal academic assessment (ParaPro, ParaPathways, The Master Teacher), or fulfillment of competencies listed in the MDE approved competency grid.
- Possession of a PCA certificate (or willingness to obtain one; training provided free and takes less than an hour).
- At least one year of experience working with school-aged children in a professional setting is required.
- Ideally, two or more years of experience as a school-based paraprofessional.
- Passion for working with students who have unique educational and behavioral needs, and the ability to support individualized learning goals.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Providing day-to-day support for students in a highly specialized setting (setting 3+).
- Assisting special education teachers with instructional duties and individualized education plans.
- Supporting behavioral interventions and classroom management tailored to students with ASD and DCD.
- Fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere.
