Corporate Counsel, Employment & Litigation (California)

Location: Remote (California-based candidates) or Salt Lake City, UT

Experience: 5–8+ Years

Bar Admission: Active California Bar Required

We're seeking an experienced employment attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and enjoys partnering closely with business leaders to solve complex workforce challenges.

This role will serve as a key member of the Employment Practices Legal team, owning a portfolio of California employment matters while partnering with HR, Employee Relations, and operational leadership to proactively manage legal risk across a large and growing healthcare organization.

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional litigation management and become a strategic advisor who helps shape employment practices, influence business decisions, and build scalable legal infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Manage California employment claims, including:
• Wage & Hour
• PAGA
• Wrongful Termination
• Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation
• Respond to agency charges and administrative complaints
• Draft position statements, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence
• Partner with HR and Employee Relations on sensitive employee matters
• Advise operational leaders on workforce decisions and employment risk
• Manage outside counsel, budgets, and litigation strategy
• Identify trends and develop proactive risk mitigation initiatives
• Support employment law training, policy development, and compliance efforts
• Help build scalable processes and playbooks that improve consistency and reduce risk

What We're Looking For

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar membership
• 5–8+ years of employment law experience
• Strong background in California wage & hour and PAGA matters
• Experience handling employment litigation and administrative claims
• Ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance
• Experience partnering with HR and operational leaders
• Strong writing, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
