Research Technician I/II - Albeanu Lab

Position Description Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking intellectually curious, highly motivated candidates for a Research Technician position in the Albeanu Lab. The Albeanu group investigates the logic of neural circuits underlying olfactory perception and sensorimotor predictions and errors using approaches from Systems Neuroscience including open and closed-loop behavioral tasks, multiphoton imaging and electrode recordings, optogenetic manipulations of activity and high-throughput DNA barcoding of neural circuit connectivity. Position Responsibilities Manage the mouse colony and coordinate lab purchases. Work closely with postdoctoral fellows and students to conduct experiments using widefield/multiphoton imaging, surgical procedures for chronic implantation, stereotaxic viral vector delivery, and RNA isolation. Build and troubleshoot custom rigs, and perform data analysis. Receive training and tailor responsibilities to align with the technician’s interests and career goals. Position Requirements Education. Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering (e.g., Neuroscience, Physics, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, etc.). Experience. General laboratory experience, independent troubleshooting skills, and enthusiasm to learn new skills and techniques. Experience with animal handling and lab techniques used by the group is helpful. Ideal candidate has computer programming experience (Python and/or MATLAB) and has participated in undergraduate research. Skills. Strong organizational abilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and quantitative analysis skills are required.
