Job Description:The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.Posting DetailsShift Details: PRN providing coverage for staff – no guaranteed hoursMust provide availability for at least 1 shift per pay periodAll shifts are 10 hours in lengthVariable coverage needs: days, swings, nights, weekends, call, and holidayPRN schedules prioritize your availability, providing flexibility and frequent opportunities to pick up preferred shifts.Location: Utah Valley Hospital, Orem Community Hospital, & Utah Valley Breast CenterComfortable working independentlySkilled across multiple exam types ( OB/Pelvic, Abdominal, and Vascular )Willingness to support call coverage, schedule gaps, and last-minute needsMinimum QualificationsRegistered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)Preferred Qualifications1 or more years of experience.Essential FunctionsPerform ultrasound exams according to department protocols while ensuring image quality and accuracyVerify patient identification, orders, and prepare patients for proceduresMaintain ARDMS competency and operate equipment effectivelyProvide patient care, education, and ensure comfort throughout examsAccurately document procedures and maintain recordsFollow infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelinesSupport team operations, including assisting with training and adapting to department needsSkillsUltrasound imaging techniques (OB, abdominal, vascular preferred)Patient care and customer serviceAttention to detail and image qualityAbility to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication and teamworkIndependent decision-makingPhysical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
