Sr. Software Dev Engineer, SageMaker AI

Salary: $168,100 - 227,400 per year Requirements:

• We expect 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• We expect 5+ years of programming experience in at least one software language.
• We expect 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• We look for experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
• Preferred: 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Preferred: a bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent background.
• Preferred: experience building ML pipelines, large-scale data processing systems, or evaluation infrastructure.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with LLMs, including prompting, fine-tuning, structured output, and confidence calibration.

• We design and deliver core data preparation components that help customers customize and fine-tune LLMs in SageMaker.
• We build and scale systems that use auto-labeling and LLM-as-Judge methods to detect, diagnose, and fix data quality issues.
• We define quality standards and evaluation frameworks for AI agents and models, and we implement continuous improvement processes.
• We lead the evolution of our human-in-the-loop services to support feedback loops for labeling, annotation quality assurance, and ground-truth generation.
• We mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and help raise the engineering bar across the team.
• We make high-impact architectural decisions across distributed systems, data processing, and ML infrastructure, and we own the technical roadmap for our area.
