Job Description
Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Experience: Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology required; two years Medical Technologist experience in a hospital setting preferred
License: Current certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology or Medical Technologist certification required
Certifications: Required certifications in relevant field


Must-Have:
Demonstrated ability to perform technical duties with accuracy and precision.
Understanding of laboratory policies and procedures.
Ability to use laboratory information systems effectively.
Strong organizational and communication skills.


Description:
Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and test result reporting with high accuracy and timeliness.
Ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
Works in multiple laboratory sections, including processing and microbiology setups based on laboratory needs.
Examines and interprets test results to identify abnormalities in various tests.
Prepares sterile media and incubates cultures as per standardized procedures.
Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains following laboratory formulas.
Maintains detailed records of tests performed and reports results appropriately.
Recognizes quality control shifts and trends, taking necessary action.
Follows established schedules for quality control testing.
Calibrates and performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Cleans and sterilizes laboratory instruments and glassware.
Operates automated instrumentation and performs manual tests accurately.
Performs order entry procedures using the Laboratory Information System.
Implements positive patient identification procedures to ensure specimen integrity.
Processes incoming specimens, including labeling and delivering to appropriate departments.
Receives and documents incoming reagents and supplies.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Commits to the safety and well-being of colleagues and patients by adhering to required vaccinations.
