Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, for patients with complex problems in a CVICU setting.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments incorporating physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs, and synthesize data to determine care priorities.
• Develop, update, and communicate individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing and apply healthcare organization standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care.
• Consult appropriate resources in a timely manner for patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, or high-risk discharge planning considerations.
• Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care initiatives while promoting a safe, clean, and secure environment.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
• Nursing Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Experience in a cardiothoracic or cardiovascular intensive care setting.
