The BOH Prep Cook supports the kitchen team with daily preparation work that helps the team execute service at the highest level. This role requires consistency, attention to detail, and care in the quality of the work. The Prep Cook should be eager to learn, follow direction well, and understand that precision matters in every step of preparation. Working closely with the BOH team, the Prep Cook helps ensure ingredients are prepared, organized, and ready before service begins.
Responsibilities
- Support daily kitchen prep for service, including ingredient preparation, portioning, and station setup.
- Follow established recipes, prep standards, and direction from the kitchen team.
- Maintain consistency, cleanliness, and attention to detail across all prep tasks.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control.
- Help ensure prep is completed and the kitchen is ready before service begins.
- Communicate any missing, damaged, or low-quality items to management.
- Help keep walk-in, dry storage, and prep areas clean, organized, and properly rotated.
Schedule
Daytime shifts; hours vary; typically includes Thursday - Saturday mornings through early eveningsWhat We’re Looking For
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to follow direction, stay organized, and work efficiently.
- Reliable, punctual, and communicative.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- NYC Food Handler’s Certificate required or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
