Description:

As a Wet Painter 2, you will independently perform industrial wet painting operations while meeting established safety, quality, and productivity standards. You will prepare surfaces for painting, determine required paint colors from fabrication plans and part identification, prepare and load paint equipment, mix paint, and apply coatings to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

· Independently perform assigned work center operations with little to no assistance.

· Inspect and prepare part surfaces to ensure they are clean and ready for paint application.

· Determine required paint colors using fabrication plans, part tags, and cart identification.

· Prepare and mix paint according to established requirements.

· Load and prepare paint guns, hoppers, and related painting equipment.

· Apply wet paint coatings according to established specifications.

· Evaluate paint quality using established inspection and testing techniques, including visual inspection, coating thickness, and scratch testing.

· Identify light coverage and other nonconforming paint conditions.

· Identify, report, and correct quality issues according to product requirements.

· Use computers to access drawings, models, and production information.

· Set curing oven timers according to process requirements.

· Follow applicable procedures, policies, and work instructions associated with paint operations.

· Complete work center tasks within established production time requirements.

· Use work center tools correctly and return tools to designated storage locations.

· Follow established quality requirements for assigned tasks.

· Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing assigned work.

· Work with team members to safely handle and lift larger parts.

· Properly use and store tools required for work-center operations.

· Maintain the work center in accordance with established 5S requirements.

· Work safely around forklift and crane operations and follow designated aisles, work zones, and storage areas.

· Operate power/hand tools, measuring devices, and instruments used for assembly.

· Adhere to established work schedules, break periods, and company policies regarding phone use, smoking, music, and general workplace conduct.

· Use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, masks, safety shoes, and other work-center-specific PPE.

· Understand and follow quality standards and workmanship requirements for assigned tasks and responsibilities.

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Experience: One year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment with 3-5 years' experience as an industrial painter required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

Skills:

· Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written work instructions, technical specifications, fabrication plans, part tags, drawings, and models.

· Proficiency in industrial wet paint preparation, mixing, application, and equipment setup.

· Ability to evaluate surface cleanliness and readiness prior to paint application.

· Ability to inspect paint quality using coating thickness, scratch, visual, and other established quality checks.

· Ability to identify and correct insufficient coverage, paint defects, and routine nonconforming conditions.

· Basic computer skills for accessing production drawings, models, and related work information.

· Ability to identify and organize parts by model, unit, or job number.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to quality and detail.

· Ability to meet established production and cycle-time requirements.

· Ability to safely use power tools and hand tools and properly store work-center tools.

· Ability to safely operate crane equipment after required training.

· Understanding of PPE, shop safety, and 5S requirements.

· Ability to work safely around forklifts, cranes, production aisles, work zones, and material storage areas.

· Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 40 pounds and work with team members to handle larger parts.

· Ability to work effectively with others and receive direction as needed.

· Ability to provide flexible support across production areas based on operational needs.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 40 lbs, bend, use hands, and fingers for 8 + hours. (Overtime may be required)
