The Bending Machine Operator I is an entry-level position responsible for learning basic bending machine operations, workplace safety requirements, production processes, and company procedures. This role works under direct supervision while developing foundational skills for independent machine operation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Utilize basic computer systems to access engineering drawings, models, manufacturing documents, and production information.

· Use both metric and imperial measuring instruments accurately to inspect parts and verify dimensions.

· Verify completed bent parts against engineering drawings and ensure compliance with specified tolerances.

· Complete fabrication and production tracking documentation accurately and thoroughly.

· Load and operate one designated bending machine type according to product and material requirements.

· Read and interpret fabrication drawings for small components including wall parts, roof parts, door components, loose base parts, corners, and miscellaneous fabricated items.

· Operate one designated bending machine independently and perform basic troubleshooting of routine production issues.

· Maintain a strong commitment to quality, safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.

· Operate power and/or hand tools.

· Demonstrate safe operation and proper use of forklift and crane.

· Follow all applicable procedures, policies, work instructions, and quality requirements associated with the bending work center.

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Experience: One year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment operating press brakes or similar bending equipment required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

· Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

· Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and manufacturing technologies.

· Perform mechanical equipment troubleshooting according to inspection procedures.

· Maintain high-quality output and on-time delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 40 lbs., bend, use hands, and fingers for 8 + hours. (Overtime may be required)
