Laboratory Technician - Medical Laboratory Technician

Medical Technologist Blood Bank

Schedule: Primarily evening shift with weekend rotation; 5 - 8 hr shifts per week

Assignment Details: Guaranteed Hours: 40 Contract Weeks: 13

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certified MT with ASCP, AMT, NCCLS or equivalent certification
• Certified MLS with ASCP, AMT, NCCLS or equivalent certification

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Perform analyses on blood and other body fluids for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Prepare specimens for processing, ensuring accurate identification and logging of patient information.
• Process and analyze specimens using manual or automated methods, ensuring quality control criteria are met before reporting results.
• Assist in the training of technical personnel and participate in proficiency testing or quality assurance activities as directed.
• Maintain laboratory and hospital policies, ensuring compliance with safety and quality assurance procedures.
• Perform specimen collection duties and verify patient identification prior to collection.

Compliance / Notes:

Follow policies for the release of patient information and document required information when reports are released. Maintain departmental equipment and inventory of reagents and supplies.
