Application Deadline:10/08/2026Address:100 King Street WestJob Family Group:Finance & AccountingThe Corporate Development Senior Associate supports enterprise strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, partnerships, and new business opportunities. The role provides financial analysis, valuation support, transaction execution assistance, and strategic insights to help evaluate opportunities and inform senior management decision-making. The Senior Associate develops financial models, conducts company and industry research, supports due diligence and governance processes, prepares executive-level materials, monitors transaction and initiative performance, and stays informed of banking, financial services, regulatory, and M&A market trends.Key ResponsibilitiesTransaction Execution & Strategic AdvisorySupport evaluation and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, alliances, and new ventures.Assist with target screening, opportunity assessment, valuation, due diligence coordination, transaction structuring, negotiation, approval processes, and closing/post-close tracking.Lead cross-functional and inter-bank working groups to assess enterprise impacts, risks, financial implications, and integration requirements of proposed transactions.Act as a trusted advisor by providing financial and overall transaction expertise in the development and assessment of business strategies and in support of enterprise strategic initiatives.Develop leadership committee and Board presentations for strategic discussion, decision making, and approval regarding M&A and other capital investments or divestitures.Conduct detailed company and industry research, including analysis of peers, potential targets, industry transactions, and emerging trends.Financial and Valuation AnalysisDevelop detailed financial models, valuation analyses, business cases, and scenario analyses to evaluate strategic, financial, capital, and risk implications of potential transactions and initiatives, including assessing pro forma impacts to financial statements, net present values, internal rates of return, synergy capture, returns on invested capital, and shareholder value creation.Analyze financial, operational, market, regulatory, and industry data to generate insights and recommendations.Prepare concise financial summaries, executive-level materials, governance committee updates, and decision-support materials for senior leaders.Relationship Management & CommunicationBuild effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including LOB, Finance, Risk, Legal, Tax, HR, Operations, and Technology partners, and external advisors.Act as a liaison across workstreams to align objectives, clarify business context, and support timely execution of initiatives.Prepare clear, concise communications and materials tailored to senior leadership and executive audiences.Governance, Reporting & MonitoringSupport the development and maintenance of Corporate Development policies, procedures, financial methodologies, and transaction governance standards.Track initiative performance, transaction milestones, risks, issues, decisions, and dependencies.Assist with the monitoring and ongoing valuation of existing lines of business, equity investments, and joint ventures, including potential impairment testing and tax restructuring initiatives.Produce regular and ad hoc updates, dashboards, financial summaries, transaction status reports, and executive-level reporting.Escalate issues and communicate status to Corporate Development leadership and other stakeholders as appropriate.Risk ManagementApply sound judgment and BMO’s risk management framework when evaluating strategic initiatives and transactions.Identify, assess, and escalate financial, operational, regulatory, reputational, execution, and integration risks.Make risk-informed recommendations that align with business strategy, approved risk appetite, policy requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.QualificationsBetween 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, and/or related fields.Deep knowledge of financial concepts and strong financial modeling, valuation, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.Experience supporting complex M&A transactions.Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred.Accounting designation, CFA, MBA, or similar credentials are considered an asset.Core SkillsFinancial modeling and analysis skills – Expert.Analytical and problem-solving skills – Expert.Transaction execution and project management - In-depth.Written and verbal communication - In-depth.Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.Data-driven decision making - In-depth.Attention to detail and quality control - In-depth.Salary:$70,000.00 - $150,000.00Pay Type: SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
