Business Development Specialist

Overview and Responsibilities As a member of a sales team, the acquisition specialist is responsible for closing net-new business within a defined geographic territory, including major and metro markets. The role involves developing value propositions, customized pricing and closing business by positioning solutions to meet customer needs. Essential Functions Close new business opportunities by conducting background research on potential customers, discussing the customer’s supply chain with decision makers and other representatives, analyzing customer needs, and developing and implementing value propositions and customized pricing. Maintain regular and consistent communication with managers, sales representatives and peers within the Sales organization, related to joint sales call opportunities, lead generation, etc., in support of new and incremental revenue. Navigate internal, cross‑functional processes to coordinate and collaborate on support and solutions with internal teams to provide a seamless and outstanding customer experience and close incremental business. Produce and present competitive and market‑based pricing and customized strategic pricing to customers using mid‑ to senior‑level negotiation skills. Collaborate with sales peers, marketing, finance, operations and other areas as appropriate in identifying issues and developing and implementing solutions to support retention and growth of revenue. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (equivalency reflected under minimum experience). Minimum Experience (in lieu of bachelor’s degree) Four (4) years of business‑to‑business sales experience or two (2) years of the Company’s business‑to‑business sales experience required. Preferred Qualifications This customer‑facing position requires meeting with customers in person on a regular basis. Candidates must live within a 50‑mile radius of Columbia, MD or surrounding cities. This position may be eligible for relocation, based on business need. Position not eligible for sponsorship. Pay Monthly range: $4,331.25 – $10,600.00. Pay varies by level, experience and market. Additional compensation such as premiums and bonus may be available. The Company offers health, vision and dental insurance, retirement and tuition reimbursement. Additional Details Hybrid – This position will be hybrid in Pittsburgh, PA, with employees required to work at a FedEx office location up to several times per week.
