HVAC Data Center Journeymen Mechanic (union)

Overview Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking talent to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. The role will be on light or heavy commercial teams using advanced heavy commercial and cutting‑edge industrial equipment. Members of the team will provide service for light commercial and/or heavy commercial HVACR equipment, partnering with Journeymen to repair centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers. They will also be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing commercial heating and cooling systems, and for providing solutions to customers to improve efficiency. Responsibilities Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial HVACR systems. Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Act as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines and use dial indicators for mechanical shaft alignment of pumps, fans, and compressors. Travel 10%–20% to support Branch customers, including troubleshooting, installation, and repair. Qualifications Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO. Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience. Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing. Ability to use vibration equipment and dial indicators for troubleshooting. Travel may be required 10%–20% of the time. Will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies. Benefits & Compensation Pay Rate: $39.13 hourly, as determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
