The pay for this position is $21.00 per hour.City of Novi: Who We AreThe City of Novi, Michigan (population est. 66,000+, located in desirable Oakland County, SE Michigan) seeks a proactive, career oriented Police Cadet to work and learn in a community oriented problem-solving environment. Since beginning the Police Cadet Program in 2009, 15 Cadets have successfully obtained full-time Police Officer careers within the City of Novi.What does a Police Cadet do?As a Police Cadet with the City of Novi, you will assist with various tasks to support the police department's operations. Your responsibilities may include attending and assisting with community events, conducting traffic control, performing administrative duties, and observing police procedures. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced officers and gain practical knowledge of law enforcement practices. This role will require strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently. Your dedication and willingness to learn will be crucial as you navigate day-to-day tasks within the police department.What matters mostTo excel as a Police Cadet at the City of Novi, you must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Proficiency with various software tools and the capacity to learn new technologies quickly will be essential. You should have strong organizational skills to handle administrative tasks efficiently and accurately, such as taking non-criminal reports, conducting detention facility duties, and managing administrative duties like administering preliminary breath tests and handling vehicle releases.
